The project "The Great War from Bridge to Bridge" retraces part of the Austro - Hungarian front line in World War I after Caporetto, which ran along the Piave River from Vidor to Susegana.
We like to think of the itinerary as a 30 km long open air history museum. As such it can be visited in parts or as one complete visit and is easily accessible, as much of it is on flat terrain along the river banks. The Piave territory, is rich in natural flora and fauna, history and culture.
The project was developed by GruppoCasaPiave in 2012 with the aim of recouping and preserving World War 1 sites and making them accessible to the public thus ensuring future generations a living memory of those who fought and lost their lives along this front. In collaboration with the Municipalities of; Vidor, Moriago Della Battaglia, Sernaglia Della Battaglia Susegana and Regone Veneto, work started in Spring 2014 and was completed in July the same year.
