Fronte del Piave

On the 24th October 1917, after the defeat at Caporetto, the Italian army started its retreat to the Piave River. A series of skirmishes were planned along the way, to hinder and slow down the Austro-Hungarian advance.
10 days after leaving Caporetto, General Diaz establish the front line along the Piave River and  had it reinforced with troops from the Carso (III° Arm.) and the Cadore (IV° Arm.).
In november 1918, one year after Caporetto, the Italian army and her allies marched on Vittorio Veneto.
